What causes subluxation?
Many of the stresses that we are under in a modern society can result in Subluxations such as the physical stresses of work postures and activities such as repetitive lifting and accidents to the more emotional stresses that we are placed under in our working and family lives.
We must also consider stresses on a chemical level such as pollution, smoking and diet that can result in the body being less well and thus more susceptible to stress. In summary our lifestyle, which can be inherently stressful, can result in Subluxations thus meaning we are then in a position to be less able to cope with future stresses. This is what can lead to a decline in our health on a progressive level.
As the subluxation can alter the function of the nervous system it can impair the ability of the body to function at its best and adapt. This may result in the body sending signals in the form of pain. In regards to the spine common expressions of this are back and leg pain, neck and shoulder pain, and headaches. By removing the subluxation or interference in the nervous system Chiropractic can be very successful in alleviating these symptoms. We must be mindful however of the nervous system component of the subluxation and that the effect of a subluxation may not always be expressed as the above pain syndromes.
So Chiropractic can have the benefit to your overall health in that it helps your body more effectively adapt to its environment and help you feel better at the same time.
