Chiropractic Science
Chiropractic science concerns itself with the relationship between the structure of the spine and the function of the nervous system and health of the human body. Every biological and man made structure in the world has an ideal position or alignment for which it functions at its optimum. In physics courses, everyone learns the phrase "Structure Determines Function." The spine is no different.
The normal curves in the spine are extremely important. The curves in the spine help to absorb shock, allow for proper movement, take stress off the nerves, and distribute the force on the spine to both the front and back of the spinal vertebra.
Abnormal curve configurations are caused by different types of injury and poor habits including:
- Poor posture
- Poor sleeping habits
- Strenuous exercise
- Automobile accidents
- Work-related injuries
- Poor work ergonomics
- Sports
- Slips or falls
- Birthing process
